Confidentiality
Like all qualified, registered practitioners, I am required to assure your confidentiality as part of the Code of Ethics of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy). This means ensuring that any information about you is securely stored for 3 years after our work has finished, and that I do not disclose information about you to other people.
All registered therapists are required to have supervision to make sure their practice is safe – a form of quality assurance. This is either carried out 1:1, or in a group who have a contract of confidentiality to assure the client(s) identity is protected.
If I think you are at risk of harming yourself, I will talk this over with you and aim to come to an agreement with you. In highly exceptional circumstances, if there appears to be a real risk to you, I will contact your GP.
